Hiking trips starting at Hotel du Lac
There are a number of beautiful hikes that start and end at hotel du lac.
Le sentier des peintres (The painter’s trail)
At the end of the 19th century, Crozant and the Creuse valley were particularly popular with painters, especially the Impressionists.
The painters path is a small walk of about 4 km. along the river la sedelle, which has inspired many painters. In particular, les moulins de la Sedelle “the water mills of the Sedelle” built along the banks of the river. Along the route, there are iron sculptures with pictures on glass and an interpretation of a painter.
Le tour du lac d’eguzon (The tour around the lake of Eguzon)
This 17-km walk takes you on a free ferry from one side of the lake to the other. To be sure, call us (tel : 02.54.47.43.87) Departure point Hotel du Lac. The first part of the walk goes through woods, then moorland, past the ruins of Crozant, through woods on the right bank of the river. Then you take the little ferry and come back through an old agricultural area that has not yet been cleared. A beautiful walk.
If you want to walk a bit further, you can also consider not taking the ferry but walking along the beaches and the water sports area to then arrive at the dam and cross the river here. This walk is now about 32 km.
Crozant – Fresselines
This walk takes you through the woods, up river towards the village of Fresselines. Here we find a beautiful viewpoint where Claude Monet painted. The delta of the two rivers, the little creuse and the big creuse, just outside the village of Fresselines. This is a walk of about 18 km. Also on this walking route are sculptures of iron containing pictures in glass and an interpretation of a painter.
Many other walking routes can be reached quickly by car. Maps can be found on the website of the tourist office – Dun le palestel: www.paysdunois.fr or Eguzon:www.eguzonlaccreuse.com.
