The region is essentially an agricultural and cattle breeding area. Maybe you have heard about the red and brown limousin cows.
The area has many country lanes, roads and paths, which are now for the most part well marked. Many of these paths are used by hikers and bikers.
Hotel du Lac is the junction of a number of walking- and cycling routes.
Le sentier des peintres; a short walk of about 4 km. Along the river ”De la Sedelle”, which has inspired many painters. On the trail, there are iron sculptures with pictures and an interpretation of a painter from the erea “Ecole de Crozant” from 1800-1850.
Le tour du lac d’eguzon; This walk of about 17 km makes use of the little ferry that brings you across the lake for free. Departing from the right bank, you will walk through the moors, past the ruins of Crozant and through the woods along the banks of the river. Then take the little ferry and come back through an old farming area that has not yet been cleared.
If you want to go a bit further, you can also consider not taking the ferry but continuing along the beaches and the water sports area to get to the dam and cross the river here. The walk is about 32 km.
Crozant – Fresselines: The walk takes you through the woods, up river towards the village of Fresselines. Here we find a beautiful viewpoint where Claude Monet has been painting. The delta of the two rivers, the little creuse and the riveir de creuse, just outside the village of Fresselines. This is a walk of around 18 km. On this walk sculptures made of iron containing pictures and an interpretation of a painter from the “Ecole de Crozant” from 1800-1850 can also be found.
Many other walking routes can be reached quickly by car. Maps can be found on the tourist office website – Dun le palestel: www.paysdunois.fr or Eguzon: www.eguzonlaccreuse.com.
